Step 2: Create a Lesson Request

Click on Requests in the footer of the app or left rail of the student web platform.  To start a lesson request, click on the (+) icon in the lower righthand corner of the screen.

If this is your first time using the app, then you will be shown the two different filming angles you will have to use when filming your swing and submitting video:

Down-the-Line; and

Face-On

Both films are required in order to give our instruction team the angles it needs to provide you with proper analysis and feedback.  Please ensure to position your camera phone or video recorder far enough back to capture your entire body and club at the top of your backswing.

In addition, please make sure you keep your films to no more than thirty (30) seconds each if possible.  We cannot control the quality of internet bandwidth each student possesses, and we want to make sure the time required to upload your videos is as short as possible.  Also, our instruction team only needs one (1) swing from each filming angle.  If you don’t think a particular swing represents your typical swing, then delete it and film it again.

From this point onwards, there are typically two ways students complete and submit a lesson request:

1- If you already have both down-the-line and face-on videos of 30 seconds (or less) stored on your computer, smartphone or storage device:

Please feel free to select your Topic and Area of Focus.  Then, write your goal for the lesson as well as any additional detail you think the instructor would find helpful.  Lastly, add each video in its respective filming angle location by clicking on each Add Video icon (2 per lesson request) and then clicking “Upload From Gallery,” wait for each video to upload, and send the request to the instruction team.

2- If you need to go to the range or course to film your swing first:

Head to the range, set up your camera stand on your bag or bag stand and film a Down-the-Line video AND a Face-On video.  Or ask a fellow golfer on the range to film you from both angles...it only takes 1 minute (and offer to do the same for him)!

Then, open the Swing-U app, click on Requests and start a new learning request.  Select your Topic and Area of Focus.  Then, write your goal for the lesson as well as any additional detail you think the instructor would find helpful.  Lastly, add each video you just filmed in its respective filming angle location by clicking on each Add Video icon (2 per lesson request) and then clicking “Upload From Gallery,” wait for each video to upload, and send the request to the instruction team.

You also can wait until you get home, save the videos from your phone to another storage device (e.g., Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive), and use the student web platform to create a learning request and upload both respective videos.

You also can wait and film your swing during the lesson request creation process by clicking on “Record Video” after clicking the Add Video icons.  Film both your Down-the-Line and Face-on videos, upload them and send your lesson request right from the practice range or course!

Lastly, filming can be done with a web camera or other built-in camera via your laptop or desktop if in an appropriate location.  Recommended browsers include [Google Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge and Safari].
